Opportunities await in the Arabic Flagship Program

There are close to 300 million Arabic speakers around the globe, with large populations of native speakers in the Middle East and North Africa. The Arabic Flagship Program at Indiana University helps you reach superior level language proficiency, setting you up for success in a range of domestic and international careers.

One of three Language Flagships on campus, the Arabic Flagship Program is designed to allow undergraduates to study any major while gaining professional proficiency in Arabic. While completing Arabic coursework at IU, our students participate in one-on-one tutoring and accelerated summer language study. The program culminates in a Capstone year in Morocco, which involves direct enrollment at a host university and an internship in a chosen field overseas.

Through this program, Flagship students are able to:

  • Reach professional proficiency in Arabic
  • Pursue a diverse range of majors
  • Obtain funding for summer language study and study abroad
  • Work in diverse fields like business, government, arts, and the nonprofit sector after graduation
  • Intern abroad
  • Live abroad for a year in vibrant Morocco
  • Receive one-on-one language tutoring
  • Develop personal and professional networks
  • Become global professionals
