The Arabic Flagship Program is looking for strong speakers of Arabic to join our tutoring team. Tutors help students build fluency and confidence and introduce them to cultures of the Arab world.
What Tutors Do
- Meet with individual students or small conversation groups for practice in Modern Standard Arabic or spoken dialects.
- Support students with material covered in Arabic courses.
- Help students prepare for presentations and oral proficiency interviews.
Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from the Bloomington community as well as undergraduate students, graduate students, and visiting scholars at Indiana University. Community applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree. All tutoring is conducted in person on the IU campus, so all applicants must be able to work in Bloomington.
Applicants should be native speakers of Arabic or advanced learners who can converse comfortably on a wide range of topics and should be able to commit to at least one full semester. Previous teaching experience is welcome but not required.
Time Commitment and Pay
Tutors typically work several hours each week depending on their availability and performance. Sessions are held on campus and scheduled around your availability.
How to Apply
Please complete the online application form: link to the application. We accept applications throughout the year and review them before the beginning of each semester. Applicants selected for an interview are contacted directly.
